Storyline
In the 2011 sports drama Warrior, two estranged brothers find themselves on an inevitable collision course inside a mixed martial arts cage. Tom Hardy stars as Tommy Riordan, a haunted ex-Marine and wrestling prodigy who returns home to enlist his recovering alcoholic father, Paddy (Nick Nolte), to train him for a massive, high-stakes MMA tournament called "Sparta." Meanwhile, Tommy's older brother, Brendan (Joel Edgerton), is a former UFC fighter turned high school physics teacher who is facing bankruptcy and the foreclosure of his family home. Desperate for money, Brendan returns to the underground fighting circuit. As both underdogs unexpectedly claw their way through the tournament brackets, they are forced to confront the deep-seated resentment, trauma, and broken bonds that tore their family apart.
