Storyline

In Michael B. Jordan’s 2023 directorial debut Creed III, former undisputed heavyweight champion Adonis "Donnie" Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has retired from boxing to focus on his family—his wife Bianca (Tessa Thompson) and daughter Amara (Mila Davis-Kent)—while running Delphi Boxing Academy. His comfortable life is disrupted when Damian "Dame" Anderson (Jonathan Majors), a childhood friend and former golden-gloves prodigy, is released after serving 18 years in prison for a violent incident involving Donnie's past. Bitter over his lost youth and eager to claim the boxing glory stolen from him, Dame pressures Donnie to give him a shot in the ring. Donnie arranges a title fight between Dame and current champion Felix Chavez, but Dame's ruthless, dirty fighting style earns him the championship belt and exposes a deep-seated vendetta against Donnie. Forced to confront his lingering guilt over abandoning Dame years ago, Donnie steps out of retirement and enters the ring one last time for an intense, personal showdown at Dodger Stadium to settle the score with his former brother.

Coupled with Jonathan Majors' magnetic, volatile performance as Dame, the film delivers an emotionally intense rivalry where every punch feels fueled by decades of resentment and unaddressed trauma. Biggest Weakness The narrative pacing feels slightly rushed in its transition from Dame's release to his rapid rise to world champion, relying on a somewhat convenient injury plot device to give an unsanctioned fighter an immediate title shot. Additionally, Sylvester Stallone's complete absence as Rocky Balboa—while allowing Donnie to fully stand in his own spotlight—leaves a palpable void during key moments of emotional crisis where Rocky's presence was previously vital.
