Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

In Nicholas Meyer’s 1982 sci-fi landmark Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Admiral James T. Kirk (William Shatner) is wrestling with middle age and a desk-bound career while overseeing an Enterprise training cruise crewed by young Starfleet cadets. Meanwhile, the starship USS Reliant surveys the barren world Ceti Alpha V for Project Genesis—a terraforming technology capable of reorganizing dead matter into living worlds, developed by Dr. Carol Marcus (Bibi Besch) and her son, David (Merritt Butrick). Unbeknownst to the Reliant crew, Ceti Alpha V is the wasteland where Kirk marooned the genetically engineered tyrant Khan Noonien Singh (Ricardo Montalbán) fifteen years earlier. Seizing the Reliant and torturing its commanders with brain-controlling indigenous parasites, Khan learns of Genesis and embarks on a relentless quest for revenge against Kirk. Caught off-guard by a surprise assault that cripplingly damages the Enterprise, Kirk must outsmart his brilliant, obsessed adversary in a high-stakes tactical battle of wits inside the dense, sensor-blinding Mutara Nebula, culminating in an ultimate sacrifice to save the ship.
