Pacific Rim

In the 2013 sci-fi action epic Pacific Rim, humanity faces a cataclysmic war against the Kaiju—colossal, monstrous alien creatures that emerge from an interdimensional rift deep beneath the Pacific Ocean. To combat these towering beasts, the world unites to construct the Jaeger program: massive, weaponized robotic mechs so enormous and neurally complex that they require two pilots to operate simultaneously. The pilots must fully fuse their minds through a mental connection known as "The Drift," sharing memories, instincts, and physical reflexes. When the older Jaeger models begin falling to increasingly adaptive Kaiju threats, a washed-up, grieving former pilot named Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) is called back to active duty by Marshal Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba). Teamed with an untested, brilliant trainee named Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), Raleigh must pilot a legendary but obsolete Jaeger, Gipsy Danger, in a final, desperate military operation to seal the rift and save the world from total extinction.
