Storyline
In the 2011 biographical sports drama Moneyball, Brad Pitt stars as Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland Athletics baseball team. Facing a devastating postseason loss and a severely constrained budget that pales in comparison to wealthy franchises like the New York Yankees, Billy is forced to completely reinvent his approach to the game. After a chance meeting with Peter Brand (Jonah Hill), an Ivy League economics graduate with radical ideas about player evaluation, Billy embraces a controversial, data-driven system known as "Sabermetrics." By ignoring traditional scouting instincts and instead utilizing statistical analysis to recruit undervalued, flawed players who have a high knack for simply getting on base, Billy challenges the entire century-old baseball establishment and attempts to spark a revolution on a shoestring budget.
