Gravity

In the 2013 sci-fi survival thriller Gravity, the terrifying, silent vacuum of Earth's orbit becomes a hostile arena for survival. Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first Space Shuttle mission, accompanied by veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney), who is commanding his final flight. During a routine spacewalk to service the Hubble Space Telescope, a catastrophic chain reaction triggered by a Russian missile strike on a defunct satellite sends a massive, high-velocity cloud of space debris hurtling directly toward them. The shuttle is instantly destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely untethered, floating in total darkness with rapidly depleting oxygen tanks and no communication with Mission Control. To survive, the pair must utilize Kowalsky's thruster pack to navigate the weightless void, leaping from one damaged space station to another in a desperate, adrenaline-fueled race against time before the debris field orbits the Earth and strikes them again.
