Storyline
In the 2007 post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller I Am Legend, brilliant military virologist Robert Neville (Will Smith) is the last human survivor in a desolate, overgrown New York City. A genetically re-engineered measles virus, originally designed as a miracle cure for cancer, mutated into a lethal pandemic that wiped out most of the global population and turned the remaining survivors into aggressive, photophobic, vampire-like mutants called "Darkseekers." Immune to the virus, Neville spends his days hunting for food, broadcasting radio signals to find other survivors, and conducting desperate laboratory experiments on infected rats using his own blood to engineer a cure. His only companion is his loyal German Shepherd, Samantha. When a dangerous encounter with the Darkseekers' unusually intelligent leader leaves Neville trapped and isolated, his fragile grip on sanity begins to shatter, forcing him to defend his fortified home against an all-out nocturnal assault while protecting the cure he has spent years trying to create.
