Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

In the 2009 animated sci-fi comedy Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, loosely based on the classic children's book, eccentric inventor Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) lives on the isolated, sardine-dependent island of Swallow Falls. Desperate to create something that improves people's lives, Flint invents the "FLDSMDFR" (Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator), a highly advanced machine designed to mutate the molecular structure of water into delicious food. When he accidentally launches the device directly into the atmosphere, it begins altering the weather, causing cheeseburgers, pancakes, and spaghetti to rain from the sky. Overnight, Swallow Falls becomes a major global tourist destination, covered by enthusiastic weather intern Sam Sparks (Anna Faris). However, when the island's greedy mayor pushes the machine past its safety limits to maximize profit, the food weather begins to mutate into hyper-sized, catastrophic culinary storms. With a massive "food-phoon" threatening to consume the entire planet, Flint, Sam, and a ragtag group of locals must fly into the heart of the storm to shut the machine down before the world is buried under a mountain of giant junk food.
