God's Not Dead is one of the most well-known examples of what is perceived as the stereotypical modern Christian blockbuster. The movie was highly successful (raking in over $64,000,000 in box office revenue) and became an iconic flick in numerous Christian circles, but was torn apart by critics for its poor acting and notoriously bad one-sided portrayal of Christians and atheists, depicting Christians as constant victims being prayed upon by evil atheists and Muslims. The criticisms are valid, and I personally, although I didn't watch the movie until I was nearly an adult, couldn't help but cringe during certain moments of this film. I believe when crafting a film, it is important to depict both sides, INCLUDING the antagonists as believable and realistic, and this film failed to do so. At the same time, this film succeeded at building up an intriguing climax and brought on an interesting dilemma throughout. So consider checking it out today!
