Editor's Note
Biggest Strength The film is the pinnacle of "disaster porn," featuring mind-bogglingly large-scale destruction sequences—from the sinking of Los Angeles to the flooding of the Himalayas—that remain some of the most impressive spectacles in the genre. Biggest Weakness The sheer absurdity of the "near-miss" sequences and the cardboard-thin character archetypes make it difficult to take the emotional stakes seriously, often pushing the film into the realm of unintentional comedy.
