Storyline

In the 1993 sci-fi action sequel RoboCop 3, mega-corporation Omni Consumer Products (OCP) is on the verge of bankruptcy and has been acquired by the Japanese Kanemitsu Corporation. Driven to finally build their utopian metropolis "Delta City," OCP deploys a ruthless paramilitary police force called the Rehabs to forcibly evict the impoverished citizens of Old Detroit from their homes. When long-time partner Anne Lewis (Nancy Allen) is killed by the Rehabs while defending civilians, RoboCop/Alex Murphy (now played by Robert John Burke) turns against his corporate creators to join an underground resistance movement led by Bertha (C.C.H. Pounder) and a tech-savvy orphaned girl named Nikko (Remy Ryan). Armed with a newly developed flight jetpack and an arm-mounted assault cannon, RoboCop faces off against OCP’s private army as well as "Otomo"—a pair of deadly, sword-wielding android ninjas dispatched by Kanemitsu to destroy him once and for all.

Biggest Strength The film isn't afraid to lean fully into campy, comic-book spectacle, introducing fan-favorite upgrades like RoboCop's arm cannon attachment and rocket jetpack. Basil Poledouris returns to score the soundtrack, giving the action moments a welcome hit of the original film's heroic theme, while Basil's score and a few fun ideas co-written by Frank Miller give it brief glimpses of pulpy sci-fi potential. Biggest Weakness The decision to aggressively tone down the franchise's signature R-rated satire and brutal violence into a sanitized PG-13 kid-friendly movie guts what made the original special. Combined with the absence of Peter Weller, cheap-looking special effects, weak villains, and a bizarrely misguided attempt to turn RoboCop into a suburban family protector who takes orders from a hacking child, the sequel feels like a low-budget weekend cartoon spinoff.
