Storyline
In the 2012 sci-fi adventure sequel Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, young Sean Anderson receives a coded distress signal from a location in the South Pacific where no land should exist. Suspecting it came from his missing grandfather, Alexander, Sean teams up with his new stepfather, Hank, to crack the code. Together with a helicopter pilot named Gabato and his daughter Kailani, they track the coordinates to a mythical, shifting landmass where everything small is big and everything big is small. Once there, they find Alexander, but they quickly discover the island is sinking rapidly into the ocean due to tectonic shifts. The group must locate the legendary submarine Nautilus to escape before the entire island is completely submerged.

Biggest Strength The film is a fast-paced, visually imaginative family adventure that leans heavily into its vibrant, colorful environment, providing plenty of fun action set-pieces and great comedic chemistry between Dwayne Johnson and Josh Hutcherson. Biggest Weakness The plot is incredibly predictable and cartoonish, completely abandoning the more grounded, classic Jules Verne spirit of the first movie in favor of goofy gags and special effects that often defy any semblance of logic.
