24: Redemption

In the 2008 television movie 24: Redemption—which bridges the narrative gap between Seasons 6 and 7 of the action thriller series 24—Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is a self-exiled wanderer seeking peace in the fictitious African nation of Sangala. Working at a rural school and orphanage run by his old Special Forces comrade Carl Benton (Robert Carlyle), Jack attempts to evade a subpoena from the U.S. government regarding past torture allegations. However, tranquility is shattered when a ruthless military junta led by General Benjamin Juma (Tony Todd) and his brutal lieutenant Dubaku (Hakeem Kae-Kazim) launches a bloody coup d'état, forcibly conscripting orphaned children into their rebel militia. As Juma's forces assault the school, Jack is forced out of retirement to protect the children, fighting a desperate rearguard action through the jungle toward the U.S. Embassy in the capital. Meanwhile, in Washington D.C., Inauguration Day is underway for Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones), America's first female president, who discovers shadowy private military contractors within her own government are covertly funding the coup.
