The Legend of Tarzan

In David Yates’ 2016 action adventure The Legend of Tarzan, years have passed since the man once known as Tarzan left the African jungle to live a gentrified life in Victorian London as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, alongside his wife Jane Porter (Margot Robbie). When King Leopold II of Belgium faces bankruptcy after exploiting the Congo Free State, his ruthless envoy, Léon Rom (Christoph Waltz), hatches a plot to secure vast diamond reserves from Chief Mbonga (Djimon Hounsou), who demands Tarzan in exchange for the treasure. Persuaded by American envoy George Washington Williams (Samuel L. Jackson)—who seeks to expose King Leopold’s illegal enslavement of the native population—John reluctantly returns to the Congo with Jane. Shortly after arriving, Rom’s mercenaries ambush their village and kidnap Jane to lure John into a deadly trap. Reconnecting with his ape upbringing and native allies, John treks through the jungle alongside Williams, battling hostile wildlife, fierce warrior tribes, and armed soldiers to rescue Jane and dismantle Rom's colonial army before it enslaves the region.
