Monsters vs. Aliens

In the 2009 DreamWorks animated sci-fi comedy Monsters vs. Aliens, Susan Murphy (voiced by Reese Witherspoon) is an ordinary California woman about to marry her self-absorbed meteorologist fiancé, Derek (Paul Rudd). On her wedding day, she is struck by a radioactive meteorite filled with a rare cosmic element called Quantonium, causing her to suddenly grow to fifty feet tall. Whisked away by the U.S. military, Susan is rebranded as "Ginormica" and imprisoned at a secret government facility housing a colorful ragtag group of weird monsters: the brainless blue blob B.O.B. (Seth Rogen), the mad-scientist cockroach Dr. Cockroach (Hugh Laurie), the prehistoric fish-man The Missing Link (Will Arnett), and a massive grub named Insectosaurus. When an evil alien overlord named Gallaxhar (Rainn Wilson) arrives on Earth to harvest the Quantonium from Susan to clone a world-conquering army, General W.R. Monger (Kiefer Sutherland) deploys the monster squad as humanity's last desperate line of defense.
